Kindness
“There are two ways of spreading the light. To be the candle, or the mirror that reflects it.” – Edith Wharton
I just found a note in an old textbook that was written to me by a boyfriend from many, many years ago. He must have tucked it inside my book to brighten my day-back in 1996- 24 years ago! The note was simple: “ I love you, I believe in you and I am grateful for you. Your efforts are noticed and I am so glad you are in my life”.
Finding it brought a tear to my eye because his little act of kindness reminded me that we never know how or when a simple gesture of gratitude and love will profoundly impact others.
Although the relationship did not workout, I know I am blessed because of it. His thoughtfulness reached across the decades to remind me of how important and empowering simple kindness is.
Something to think about:
Connect- How have you been affected by someone else’s random act of kindness or expression of Gratitude?
Clarify- What was it about that act that touched your life?
Commit- Do something today to show appreciation to another person: a loved one, a stranger, a co-worker. Reach out today and touch someone’s life.
